Sunshine State of Mind

Summer officially begins on June 20th, but in our minds, it starts the moment schools let out! After enduring spring showers and the unpredictable Midwest weather, we’re finally turning a corner, summer is here! It’s that time of year when life feels just a little bit lighter, a little more joyful. But no matter the season, whether it’s the middle of the summer or dead of winter; we believe in bringing a little sunshine into everyday life. With a few simple touches throughout our home and daily routine, here’s how we like to refresh our space and embrace that sunshine state of mind!

Fresh Flowers Always.

We love having fresh florals throughout the home all year long. Even just a simple bunch can brighten up a room… and our mood! We especially love using bud vases in different spots throughout the home; bedside table, bathroom counter, kitchen windowsill, and more. This Frances Palmer option would look beautiful in a kitchen. While  this or this would be perfect on a side table. Adding small stems throughout the home, breaks up the flowers and adds little pops of joy everywhere!

Table Linens

Skip the paper towels and add a touch of color to the table with linen napkins. Whether we are enjoying a small dinner at home with the family or hosting a larger group of people, these printed napkins are an easy way to make an everyday moment feel more special and fun.

Potted Herbs in Kitchen

Fresh herbs are another great way we like to bring life into our space.  Anyone else guilty of buying a bunch of basil only to watch it wilt in the fridge? We’ve all been there… That’s why we love keeping potted herbs, specifically basil and mint, right on the kitchen counter. Pot them in one of these adorable cachepots like this one or this one, and you will be set! Not only do they smell amazing, but they are beautiful decoration and also very handy. Basil works with just about any summer dish, and fresh mint is perfect for sprucing up water or cocktails. So refreshing!

Fun Notepad on desk / Stationary

We’re constantly jotting down thoughts, reminders, and little notes throughout our day. Having a custom notepad on our desk adds a fun pop of color and personality. This personalized option from Haute Papier is so much better than a boring legal pad or sticky note!

Handwritten notes always brighten someone’s day. Whether it’s to say thanks, hi, or that you’re thinking of them. This cheerful summer stationary deck is so fun and perfect for summer! We will be ordering this stationary for all of our summer notes.

Vitamin C Serum for Glowy Skin

We’ll be restocking  our favorite Vitamin C serum from Sunday Riley. With a subtle hint of orange and more moisturizing than other serums we’ve tried, this one truly leaves our skin looking a little brighter. We apply in the morning. Followed by Supergoop’s Glowscreen SPF, for a glowy even finish. It’s the perfect combo!

Flamingo Estates Tomato Vine Candle for the Perfect Summer Garden Scent

This is our favorite candle scent, hands down! The Roma Heirloom Tomato candle from Flamingo Estates fills any room with a crisp, green, garden scent. It’s so fresh you’ll feel like you are in a garden oasis when you light this candle. We have this scent burning all year round to evoke our senses into thinking it’s sunny, even when it’s not!

These small, intentional touches shift the energy of our homes and days to make them feel more special and joyful. Because isn’t that what bringing in sunshine truly means? Here’s to brighter days, inside and out!

What little touches of sunshine are you bringing into your summer?
